ALICE IN MAGICAL GARDEN | PORTO’S BOTANICAL GARDEN

A nocturnal sensory experience full of light, sound and color, through Alice’s world.

Alice in Magical Garden is a light show that will transform the Botanical Garden of Porto into a magical place. A multi-sensory outdoor experience that puts us between imagination and reality, along more than 1 km of luminous path.

A sensorial adventure, inspired by Lewis Carroll’s two books – “Alice in Wonderland” and “Alice Through the Looking-Glass”, which places us in limbo between imagination and reality, where the public is, at the same time, a spectator and an integral part of the story.

Alice in Magical Garden has 23 lighting experiences inspired by the chapters of the two books of Alice’s adventures and ranging from giant light sculptures, light design, sound environments, multimedia and interactive installations, as well as an augmented reality experience.

Recommended for the whole family, the most recent creation of the OCUBO studio is a sensorial and interactive journey where there will be no shortage of some of the most famous and amazing characters from the fantastic world of Alice in Wonderland, such as the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, the Blue Caterpillar or the Queen of Hearts.

Alice Magical Garden takes place from Wednesday to Sunday (including public holidays and eve of public holidays), with sessions every half hour from 9:30 pm to 10:30 pm. The average visit time is 1h.

Ticket prices vary between €10 and €15 and there are special prices for families (from 2 adults + 1 child between 4 and 17 years old), as well as for residents of Porto, seniors, students, people with mobility to 1 young people aged 47 years. Children up to 3 years old have free access.

SERRALVES EM LUZ | SERRALVES PARK

A sensorial and immersive outdoor experience, in one of the most emblematic gardens in the city.

In Serralves Park, the approaching dusk does not mark the end of the day, but the beginning of a walk in the light of 25 installations that promise to create unforgettable visual and sensory experiences.

Serralves em Luz brings a new magic to one of the most beautiful gardens in Porto, transforming it into a great outdoor light exhibition, providing the nighttime enjoyment of this magnificent space along a 3 km route and offering a sensorial experience along the way. and surprising immersive.

This is an exhibition of light, which promises to transform one of the most emblematic spaces in the city of Porto.

There is also a parallel program with guided tours and photography workshops. Generally, families with children visit the Serralves museum and then take the opportunity to take a walk in the park, which is fabulous! It has wide sidewalks where baby carriages circulate, as well as a lake and various animals.

Take advantage of the good weather to visit Serralves Park. The Serralves em Luz event is back in Porto, for a second edition, keeping its doors open to the public until October 31, 2022.

Between the 1st and the 28th of August, the doors will open from 21:00. Between August 29 and September 30, “Serralves em Luz” starts at 8:30 pm and between October 1 and 31, at 8:00 pm.

The entire ticket costs €12.50, with admission free for children up to 3 years old. For children from 4 to 11 years old, students, seniors (age 65 and over) and people with reduced mobility the price is €10.50. The Amigos de Serralves pay €9.50 and the family ticket (comprising two adults and at least one child or teenager aged between 4 and 17) has the same price.

WATER PAVILION | PORTO CITY’S PARK

The biggest water and science festival in the country.

At the Water Pavilion, the aim is to have fun through knowledge, through experiences that show the importance of water, its various forms of use and the environments where it is present.

This Pavilion was completely renovated in 2019 and the new exhibition area consists of a trip along the river, from the source to the mouth, contemplating various fun and educational experiences along the way.

The new exhibition has a participatory nature and highlights the importance of water, through a set of playful and scientific experiences on phenomena related to water resources in a very interactive way, which promises to arouse the interest of children and adults.

There are three-dimensional images created through illusions, the possibility of composing music, observing the behavior of the waves, among many other activities and incredible surprises.

The Water Pavilion offers a lot of interactivity and a perfect balance between fun and learning. It is undoubtedly an interesting place to visit in Porto, regardless of age, although with children it is even more interesting and fun.

The Water Pavilion was one of the themed pavilions created for Expo 98 in Lisbon and which was later transferred to Porto and is now integrated into Parque da Cidade, the largest wooded area in Porto and the largest urban park in the country.

Parque da Cidade is next to the Sea Life Porto aquarium, so it is an ideal place to visit with children together.

The Water Pavilion is open from Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. On Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

The adult ticket costs €8 and entry is free for children under 4 years old. For children from 4 to 12 years old the price is €5. Students and seniors (age 65 and over) pay €6. SEA LIFE PORTO | THE FAMILY AQUARIUM IN PORTO

Sea Life is the biggest aquarium in Northern Portugal and is a great activity for kids in Porto.
