ECHOES OF MOTION: Helio Bray and L7Matrix Present an Unprecedented Collaboration in Lisbon

Because Art Matters gallery presents ECHOES OF MOTION, an exhibition bringing together two of the most prominent names in contemporary urban art: Helio Bray and L7Matrix. Opening on June 6 at 8 Marvila in Lisbon, the exhibition explores speed and movement as defining elements of contemporary visual expression.

The show creates a dialogue between two distinct artistic languages, both characterised by technical mastery and visual intensity. In Helio Bray’s work, movement emerges through a meticulous process in which pointillism and urban typography create a constant tension between precision and abstraction. L7Matrix, on the other hand, approaches movement through spontaneity and gesture, transforming colour and energy into powerful visual compositions.

Alongside a significant body of individual works that reflect the recent evolution of each artist’s practice, ECHOES OF MOTION is marked by a truly unique moment: for the first time, Helio Bray and L7Matrix merge their artistic languages directly on the same canvases. The result is an exclusive series of collaborative works born from the encounter of two distinct yet complementary creative visions.

According to Gonçalo Magalhães, founder and curator of Because Art Matters, this collaboration represents far more than the coming together of two artists. “Bringing Helio Bray and L7Matrix into the same space would already be a remarkable event, but seeing them merge their identities directly within the same works is something truly historic,” he says.

More than an exhibition, ECHOES OF MOTION invites visitors to experience how different interpretations of movement can coexist and interact, revealing new possibilities for contemporary urban painting.

The exhibition will be on view from June 7 to July 12 at 8 Marvila in Lisbon, with free admission.
